I made the switch to Metro Self Storage and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had multiple units from them (various life stages, moving around etc.), the units are ALL climate controlled, the facility is spotless, and the staff has always been super kind and accommodating. Units do use a different lock mechanism (insertable cylinder) than I’m accustomed(shackles), so using my own lock was not possible. As it were, I had to get a lock either way, so no biggie for me. I just received a 20% increase after 8 months. At the same time someone off the street today can rent the exact same unit for 65% of what they raised mine to. Trying to take advantage of that my wife was going to open a unit for herself and was told if the monitored cameras saw her moving items from one unit to the other they would raise her price (which nowhere in the contract that I could find does it say they can do that) . Nice clean place and I enjoyed interactions with the staff there (Shannon and Eric) who are really nice but I informed them I will not be staying – there are much cheaper options out there that allow for a long term lock in of the price. My original rate was not heavily discounted and if it is based on market why could someone get in today at 65% of my new rate. Also nowhere in you contract does it say I cannot just get another unit at new rate and move the old unit. Am I wrong? I did ask this question and asked to speak to someone in charge and nobody got back to me. You have my number feel free to call me.
